Armor
Having this equipped will dictate how quickly your health will be depleted by enemy attacks. All damage is calculated as follows: (min damage - current armour value) to (max damage - current armour value) equals potential damage range. After the damage is resolved, the armour shred is applied, so that the next hit will face a reduced armour value.
e.g. common Blake bolt action pistol vs safari suit (30-10)-(34-10)= 20-24 damage suffered with 4 armour shred then being applied. So that a second shot would be subject to 6 armour (30-6)-(34-6) =24-28 damage. This carries on until the armour has zero effect.
There are three special damage types vs armour:
armour piercing where armour counts as zero irrespective of its current value.
splinter where the current armour value is doubled against that weapons attack.
corrosive where critical hits apply to the armour shred dealt not the damage dealt.
All armour classes are available in six tiers, in four different rarities. A character may access up to 2 types of armour depending on their skill tree. The highest light armour can score is equal to common level 5 medium armour; the highest medium armour can score is equal to common level 5 heavy armour. The highest possible armour value without using special items is 33.
Rarity
The rarity of a suit of armour will be signified by the colour of its border. White is common, blue is rare, purple is epic and gold is legendary. All armour grades and types can be found as loot. Merchants have similar odds of stocking rare, epic and legendary items.
